Abstract
Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na srovnání rozsahu výšky tónu v britské a české angličtině. Cílem práce bylo prozkoumat rozdíly v rozsahu výšky tónu mezi rodilými mluvčími britské angličtiny a českými mluvčími angličtiny a zjistit, jak může případný jazykový transfer ovlivnit srozumitelnost angličtiny s českým akcentem. Kromě toho byly zkoumány faktory vedoucí k této interferenci. Studie analyzovala řeč dvou skupin účastníků: českých rodilých mluvčích hovořících anglicky a česky a rodilých mluvčích britské angličtiny. Během dvoufázové analýzy byly nahrávky z obou skupin zpracovány pomocí softwaru PRAAT a následně porovnány. Závěrečná fáze výzkumu zahrnovala sluchové hodnocení nahrávek dvěma rodilými mluvčími britské angličtiny. Výsledky potvrdily, že čeští rodilí mluvčí vykazují v angličtině výrazně užší rozsah výšky tónu ve srovnání s rodilými mluvčími britské angličtiny v důsledku interference jejich mateřského jazyka, což nakonec negativně ovlivňuje vnímání jejich řeči posluchači.
This bachelor thesis focuses on comparing the pitch range of British and Czech English. The work aimed to examine differences in pitch range between native speakers of British English and Czech speakers of English and to explore how potential crosslinguistic transfer may affect the intelligibility of Czech-accented English. In addition, the factors leading to this interference were studied. This study analysed the speech of two groups of participants: native Czech speakers speaking English and Czech, and native British English speakers. During the two-stage analysis, recordings from two groups were processed using the PRAAT software and subsequently compared. The final phase of the research included the auditory evaluation of the recordings by two native speakers of English. The results confirmed that native Czech speakers demonstrate a significantly narrower pitch range in their English speech compared to native British English speakers due to the interference of their mother tongue, which ultimately negatively affects the listeners' perception of their speech.
