Abstract
Statistické testování hypotéz představuje jeden z významných nástrojů kvantitativního (nejen pedagogického) výzkumu. Myšlenka ověřování hypotézy pomocí “matematického modelu” se pravděpodobně poprvé objevuje již v 18. století v práci Johna Arbuthnota. Článek popisuje toto první testování v historickém a matematickém kontextu.
Statistical testing of hypotheses is one of the important tools of quantitative (not only educational) research. The idea of verifying the hypothesis using a “mathematical model” probably first appeared in the 18th century in John Arbuthnot’s work. The article describes this first testing in historical and mathematical context.
