Abstract
Polyurethane foam is a predominantly used material in car seat production.
Comfort of passengers in a moving cars is not a part missed out in car design,
therefore different types of PU foam are investigated. To compare mechanical
properties of PU foams is necessary to have a standardized methodology of
measurement, data processing and results evaluation. Such methodology is
formulated at the first chapter of this work. It involves dynamical compression
tests using harmonical and triangular exciting signal of deformation and
relaxational tests.
The influence of position from which the specimens of foam material are
cut form PU seat semiproduct is evaluated and results deviation is commented
regarding to precision of measurement and material modelling. For
material modelling the fenomenological model with concentrated parameters
is used. Influence of material density of PU foam to measured results is also
investigated. Furthermore in this work the properties of slow spring back
foam are measured and results commented in relation to ordinare foams.
The methodology od modelling of damping force of PU foam using explicit
formula is presented. It is exemplified on cases with variable parameters of
kinematical excitation and on cases with variable material density. The same
method is possible to use for damping force prediction as it is also shown.
