Abstract
Práce se zabývá interpretací vybraných textů Codexu gigantu, největší rukopisné knihy světa. Z rozsáhlejších textů se konkrétně jedná o Řeholi benediktinského řádu, spisy s lékařskou tematikou a kalendář s nekrologem (pramen sloužící k objasnění historie podlažického kláštera a jedinečný materiál pro českou onomastiku). V neposlední řadě je zde prostor věnován Novému zákonu a autorovi překladu známého jako Vulgáta, sv. Jeronýmovi.
This diploma thesis interprets specific texts of the Codex Gigas, which is the largest manuscript in the world. Out of the greater texts, this paper focuses on texts such as the Rule of Saint Benedict, medical themed texts and a calendar containing an obituary, which is used to better understand the history of the Benedictine monastery of Podlažice in Bohemia. The obituary is a unique source of information for the study of the Czech onomatology. The thesis explains the importance of the New Testament and the translation of the Vulgate Bible, translated by Saint Jerome.
