- ItemApproaches to sub-regionalization of territory: empirical study(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, 2013-08) Žižka, Miroslav; Rydvalová, Petra; Ekonomická fakultaThe article deals with the delimitation of sub-regional territorial units that can be categorized as functional regions. Sub-regions can be considered as small regional units, within which the inhabitants commute for basic services, especially to primary schools, basic health services and post office. Territorial conceptual units are a specific case of sub-regions that are used by the Liberec Region in the evaluation and the support of economically weak areas. These units are based on the administrative districts of registry, building and other offices, and on commuting to work. Delimiting sub-regions can be used for an assessment of regional disparities, since these regions are on the one hand compact enough as compared with the individual communities, but on the other hand they are not too large (as compared with administrative districts of municipalities with extended powers). In delimiting sub-regions, commuting to nodal centers, number of inhabitants and basic services play a major role. For a comprehensive assessment of regional disparities, the article also proposes a hierarchical classification of higher regional level (the micro-regional significance centers, regional importance and major regional centers). To determine these further levels, there was also investigated the occurrence of major employers and institutions of a secondary and a university education. The application and verification of the proposed methodological approach was carried out on the example of the Liberec Region.

- ItemFamily Business Innovativeness: A Tool for Successful Succession?(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, ) Skrbková, Denisa; Rydvalová, Petra; Linhart, Ondřej; Ekonomická fakultaFamily businesses are founded with a vision of long-term sustainability and longevity over generations. Therefore, succession in a family business is an important prerequisite for achieving this goal, representing one of the greatest challenges for contemporary family businesses. We are now in an era in which the millennial generation, which is known for their interest in innovation and technology, is among the potential successors. However, the relationship between family business innovation as a potential motivating factor and the next generation’s intention to take over the family business has not been sufficiently investigated. This study examines the relationship between family businesses’ innovativeness and potential successors’ intention to take over the family business. On a sample of 18,000 responses from university students in the role of a potential successor to a family business, we demonstrate a positive correlation between the intention to take over a family business and the innovativeness of that business. Although the Cramér’s V coefficient indicates weak association, it is evident that the relative number of potential successors of family businesses increases with a higher rating of innovativeness. We also show that this trend has not changed over the last five years. The innovativeness of the family business plays an important role in the next generation's decision whether to continue with the business and ensure the longevity of the family business over generations. Our findings may therefore be relevant for owners of family businesses in addressing potential succession issues.
- ItemHas COVID-19 affected the organisational culture of non-governmental organisations?(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, ) Mikušová, Marie; Rydvalová, Petra; Klabusayová, Naděžda; Konečný, František; Ekonomická fakultaOrganisational culture, as one of the key features of any organisation, is related to its performance. This is also true for non-governmental organisations. The purpose of this research is to identify changes in the dimensions of the organisational culture of these organisations caused by the pandemic. Data from 586 respondents, identified through an online OCAI questionnaire, were collected for pre-COVID-19, current, and preferred state. Statistically significant representation of the dimensions was identified in the types of culture. It was found that hierarchy culture was prevalent in pre-COVID-19. The hypothesis of trying to increase competitiveness in times of threat was not confirmed. After COVID-19, clan culture prevailed. It can be noted that individual dimensions of organisational culture changed their location dramatically during the reporting period. But the dimensions in the preferred organisational culture returned mostly to the pre-pandemic state. According to McNemar’s test at an overall significance level of 0.05, there was a difference between the now and preferred periods for dominant characteristics in hierarchy type, organisational leadership in market and hierarchy type, management of employees in clan and hierarchy, strategic emphases in adhocracy type. Of the 24 options, a statistically significant difference was confirmed in six cases. The respondents do not significantly experience feelings of exhaustion or disruption of work-life balance in a post-pandemic situation. The practical findings emphasise the necessity for managers to know the location of dimensions, not only the type of organisational culture. Confirmed facts can help managers, leaders, and policy makers in choosing strategies for shaping organisational culture in non-governmental organisations to achieve the required performance.
- ItemInfluence of clusters on the intensity of innovation outputs(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, 2014) Žižka, Miroslav; Rydvalová, Petra; Ekonomická fakultaThe article evaluates the impact of clusters on innovation outputs in the regions of the Czech Republic. The research was divided into four main phases. An overview of all institutionalised clusters in the Czech Republic, including innate clusters, was compiled in the first phase. Location quotients were used to identify innate clusters. For institutionalised clusters the main declared field specialisation, membership basis and cluster age were established. In the second phase, 5 most important branches were defined per each region by number of employees. Subsequently, the hypotheses that innovation characteristics of the regions depend on the number of clusters, their average age and the number of members were tested. Innovations were characterised by patent applications, utility models, total R&D expenditure and export of technology services. All values were examined as incremental for the period of 2009 to 2012 per one full-time researcher. None of the determined hypotheses were confirmed. There is no systematic dependence between the innovation outputs in the regions and clusters. The possible reasons for this fact are discussed in the article, such as the short time clusters have been operating in the CR, the impact of the economic crisis or underestimating the existence of innate clusters. In the last phase of the research, innovation outputs were evaluated for the branches with operating clusters in respective regions and compared with total innovations per branch in the CR. Two regions were selected to serve as an example. The analysis showed that innate noninstitutionalised clusters can also have a major impact on innovation outputs in regions.

V poslední části je vyhodnocována inovační intenzita vybraných odvětví v krajích ČR formou hodnocení inovačních výstupů registrovaných v rámci ochrany duševního vlastnictví (patenty, užitné vzory) a tržeb z prodaných licencí. Cílem je zjistit existenci vyšší inovační výkonnosti ekonomických subjektů zapojených do klastrových uskupení pomocí dat z dotazníkového šetření ČSÚ pod akronymem VTR.

- ItemManagement inovačních projektů financovaných z veřejných zdrojů(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, 2012) Chotěborská, Kristýna; Rydvalová, PetraDiploma thesis aims to the analysis and the costs of management and administration activities of innovative projects that are financed from the public sources. In my diploma thesis I have focused primarily on small and medium enterprises, mainly because the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises is significant not only for the economy of the Czech Republic and the European Union, but also for the global economy. The aim of my diploma thesis is to describe the administrative tasks that are performed within the projects financed from the public sources and to calculate the average costs of three project phases (preparation, implementation and post-project phase), and to demonstrate high administrative complexity of these projects. For the analysis of the specific project I have chosen the project named "Podpora zapojení pracovníků VaV do projektů mezinárodní vědecko-výzkumné spolupráce". The project is implemented by VÚTS that belongs to small and medium sized businesses. Funds that are provided by the European Union are currently taken as the main possibility of financing projects whose implementation results and can lead to economic growth. In current programming period 2007 - 2013 the drawing of these funds is insufficient, one of the reason may be just the aforementioned administrative requirements.
