Abstract
In my diploma thesis I focus on how to convey mathematics to pupils in primary schools. The theoretical part deals with the Framework Education Programme for Basic Education and key competences which are used in math classes the most. Furthermore, this thesis deals with motivation, forms and methods of teaching and also projects in mathematics. The author's own project consists of three parts which are arguably the most useful in practice - business, home and travel. The first area, business, was realised in mathematics class with pupils in fourth grade. The empirical part of my thesis includes a description of one part of the project and investigates, by employing two questionnaires, whether pupils enjoy mathematics and how they perceive its importance in life.
