Abstract
Ostrov s diadémem.Hornatý hřeben motýlího ostrova rozděluje Favignanu, ostrůvek u západního cípu Sicílie, na východní a západní část. Společným jim však zůstává diadém na nejvyšším vrcholu.Pevnost Santa Caterina, s pohnutým osudem, která je po desetiletí opuštěná.Projekt Santa Caterina Art Centre vdechuje pevnosti nový život, navrací místo do společnosti a tím dává zvyšujícímu se počtu návštěvníků ostrova další zajímavý cíl nejen starodávnou pevnost s nádherným výhledem, ale také muzeum a uměleckou galerii.Filozofií projektu není jen otevřít pevnost veřejnosti, ale vybudovat středomořské umělecké centrum, které podporuje umělce v tvorbě.Nabízí pohled na místo z jiného úhlu, který umocní vztah mezi vnějším a vnitřním prostředím malého, přírodně specifického, ostrova a pevnosti tyčící se na nejvyšším pahorku.
Island with diadem.The mountain ridge of the butterfly island divides Favignana, a small island at the western tip of Sicily, to the east and west. However, the diadem stays to both parts of the island in common at the highest peak.The fortress of Santa Caterina has been abandoned for decades. The fate of this building is at least hard. The Santa Caterina Art Center gives a new life to the fortress, returns place to the society and give a chance to increasing amount of visitors of the island to visit an another interesting destination - not only the ancient fortress with the magnificent view, but also museum and artistic galleries.The philosophy of the project is not just to open the fortress to the public, but build a Mediterranean artistic center that supports artists in creation.It offers a see the fortress from another angle, which will enhance the relationship between the external and the internal environment of a small, naturally specific, island and the fortress towering on the highest hill.
