dc.description.abstractTato bakalářská práce zkoumala reakce současníků T. S. Eliota na jeho dílo a teoretické postoje, na základě toho, jak o Eliotovi psali vybraní modernističtí autoři, konkrétně Ezra Pound, Virginia Woolf a James Joyce. Byla provedena analýza dochovaných písemností dopisů, diářů, esejů, recenzí a odborné literatury. Práce zkoumala jak život a dílo jednotlivých autorů, tak i jejich spolupráci s T. S. Eliotem. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jak Eliot ovlivnil literární kritiku své doby, jak byl přijímán svými současníky a jak se jeho dílo a teoretické koncepty staly zdrojem inspirace a kontroverze. Objasnila tak Eliotovu pozici v kontextu myšlení jeho literárních současníků a tím i jeho význam pro literaturu v období modernismu. Rozbor ukázal, že vliv Eliota a vybraných autorů byl oboustranný a že přijetí jeho současníky nebylo vždy kladné. Eliotův význam pro literaturu v období modernismu byl naprosto klíčový, jelikož úplně změnil chápání poezie. Jeho díla The Waste Land a Fout Quartets přinesla celou škálu nových prvků v literatuře a stala se inspirací pro básníky a spisovatele v období modernism i po něm.cs
dc.description.abstractThis bachelor?s thesis examined reactions of T. S. Eliot?s contemporaries to his work and theoretical positions, based on how selected modernist authors, specifically Ezra Pound, Virginia Woolf, and James Joyce, wrote about Eliot. An analysis of preserved letters, diaries, essays, reviews, and professional literature was conducted. The thesis examined the lives and works of the individual authors and their collaboration with T. S. Eliot. The aim of the thesis was to determine how Eliot influenced the literary criticism of his time, how he was received by his contemporaries, and how his work and theoretical concepts became a source of inspiration and controversy. It thus clarified Eliot?s position in the context of the thinking of his literary contemporaries and, consequently, his significance for literature in the modernist period. The analysis showed that the influence of Eliot and selected authors was mutual and that his reception by his contemporaries was not always positive. Eliot?s significance for literature in the modernist period was absolutely crucial, as he completely changed the understanding of poetry. His works The Waste Land and Four Quartets brought a whole range of new elements to literature and became an inspiration for poets and writers during and after the modernist period.en
