Abstract
Tato diplomová práce se zabývá obrazem středověkých posmrtných rituálů naIslandu. Prameny této práce tvoří vybrané islandské rodové ságy a výsledkyarcheologických průzkumů vybraných nalezišť. Oba typy pramenů jsou posouzenyz hlediska jejich věrohodnosti a výpovědní hodnoty. Následně je předloţen obraz smrtia posmrtných rituálů, jak o nich vypovídají rodové ságy a archeologické nálezy.Závěrem práce je porovnání výsledků z obou typů pramenů, které umoţňují vytvořenípředstavy o podobě středověkých islandských posmrtných rituálů.
This diploma thesis deals with the image of medieval posthumous rituals inIceland. The sources of this work are selected Icelandic family sagas and the results ofarchaeological surveys of selected sites. Both types of sources are evaluated in terms oftheir credibility and evidential value. Subsequently, the image of death and posthumousrituals is presented, in the light of the sagas and archaeological findings. The conclusionof the thesis is the comparison of the results from both types of sources, which allowsthe creation of an image of medieval Icelandic posthumous rituals.
