Abstract
Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá fenoménem legendární pražské postavičky Karla Weissensteina. O této reálné groteskní figurce psali především pražští židovští spisovatelé Franz Werfel a Johannes Urzidil, a to v povídkách Weißenstein, der Weltverbesserer (Werfel) a Weißenstein Karl (Urzidil), postavička ovšem ovlivnila i ducha celého pražského německého kroužku, zmiňuje se o ní například i Willy Haas ve svých memoárech. V roce 2009 vznikla v Divadle Komedie inscenace Weissenstein, která vychází především z Urzidilova textu. Tato bakalářská práce má zmapovat vztah inscenace k literární předloze a dále prozkoumat téma Karl Weissenstein v širším literárním a společenském kontextu.
This bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of the legendary Prague figure of Karl Weissenstein, who inspired the Prague Jewish authors Franz Werfel and Johannes Urzidil. His name appears in the short stories Weißenstein, der Weltverbesserer (Werfel) and Weißenstein Karl (Urzidil). However, Karl Weissenstein influenced the creative spirit of the whole Prague circle; he was mentioned, for instance, in the memoirs by Willy Haas. In 2009 the stage play called Weissenstein was released, which was based on the short story by Johannes Urzidil. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the relation between the play and the text by Urzidil and to examine Karl Weissenstein as a topic in the broader literary as well as in historical context.
