Abstract
Ve své bakalářské práci se zabývám budovou hotelu Thermal v Karlových Varech. V jednotlivých kapitolách stručně popisuji fáze architektonického vývoje první poloviny minulého století, kde se zmiňuji o stylech a hnutích, která formovala vývoj, na jehož konci stojí hotel Thermal v takové podobě, jakou má. Dále je naznačen vývoj města Karlovy Vary od jeho založení až po dobu, kdy byl vystavěn hotel Thermal. Následující kapitola je věnována Věře a Vladimíru Machoninovým. Popisuje jejich životy, a to především s ohledem na jejich architektonickou činnost. Závěrečná část nahlíží na historii hotelu Thermal od soutěže, přes jeho výstavbu až po situaci po roce 1989 a snahy o jeho památkovou ochranu.
In my bachelor thesis I deal with the Thermal Hotel in Karlovy Vary. In the individual chapters I briefly describe the stages of the architectural development of the first half of the last century, where I mention the styles and movements that shaped the development, at the end of which Thermal Hotel is in the form it has. The development of the city of Karlovy Vary from its establishment to the time of the Thermal Hotel was built. The following chapter is dedicated to Věra and Vladimír Machonin. The chapter describes their lives, especially with regard to their architectural activities. The final part looks at the history of the Thermal Hotel from the competition, through its construction to the post-1989 situation, and its monument protection.
