Zachování paměti. Reflexe holokaustu v pomníkové tvorbě Libereckého kraje
    Šternová, Petra; Lacina, Lubor
In 2023, a five-year project “Preserving Memory. Post-war Reflection of the Holocaust in Monumental Art and Fine Arts” was launched under the auspices of the Institute of Art History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, in which other institutions such as the he National Heritage Institute, the Jewish Museum in Prague and other external parties also participate. Given that the topic has so far received minimal research attention, the initial goal of the project was to create a nationwide database. In July 2025, this database, which is almost complete, contains 600 objects. There are nineteen artifacts of memory associated with the Holocaust in the Liberec Region. Compared to the nationwide scale, this is avery small segment, but it has asimilar development to it and is also in line with it in terms of form. Eighteen objects are dedicated to Jewish victims, one to Roma victims. Monuments, memorials and plaques are mostly only of acommemorative nature and only afraction of them can be found with artistic overtones and deeper symbolism.

Gottfried Josef Wurbs (1894–1970): Světlem a stínem / Licht und Schatten Žánr Heimatfotografie jako projev německé sounáležitosti
    Dařbujanová, Anna
The text is devoted to the life and work of the interwar photographer Gottfried Josef Wurbs (1894–1970), who worked mainly in the Friedland / Frýdlant area. It presents his work in the field of professional photography, focused mainly on landscape, but also documentary, product and portrait images, while emphasizing Wurbs‘ publishing activities and efforts to convey the beauties of nature and the region. A significant part of his work bears the features of the so-called Heimatfotografie (Homeland photography) – a genre characteristic for German-speaking areas, focused on an idealized image of home, landscape and nation. The study also traces the changes in this genre from the beginnings of nostalgic patriotism to its ideological misuse by the Nazi regime. In the context of the development of the Heimatfotografie genre, the work of other Sudeten German photographers active in Czechoslovakia is also analyzed. The text also serves as a professional accompaniment to the exhibition and publication of the same name, Světlem astínem / Licht und Schatten, presented by the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec in 2025.
