The aim of thesis was to describe social environment and to find its impact on the child´s school success. The thesis was divided into two parts. Theoretical part contained characteristics of terms related to the social environment. The characteristics of terms was based on the study of literature,which was compared. These were terms such as social environment,family, socialization, upbringing, preschool and basic education. There were given specific problematic situations which involve child´s school success. Practical part of the thesis was made up of a quantitative research. Classroom teachers answered structured opened questionnaires about their pupils. Questions were chosen according to thematic focus,pupil´s social environment,his family and their cooperation with the school. Observed results of the questionnare survey were provided with a suitable commentary. These results showed suggestions concerning possible school offers to a family to strenghten their cooperation. Proposals of steps were related to expanded range of services,prevention programs and thematic projects suitable for strengthening the link family-school.

At the same time it examined if the vocabulary is different for age and gender of children. Theoretical part of the bachelor thesis characterized explanation of terms which are connected with vocabulary. Characteristics based on the study of literature and its comparison. These were terms such as communication,ontogenesis of speech and language,language of levels speech. Then it explained terms such as vocabulary and curricula which are integral part of working preschools,where children´s vocabulary is developed best.In practical part the test was chosen as a survey method. The test for finding children´s vocabulary was divided into two parts. The first part helps to find passive vocabulary level of the child. In the second part active vocabulary level was examined. This part contains characteristics of research sample,length of survey,aims,conditions of work and subsequent analysis of the results of collected data. These results were provided with a suitable commentary and proposals of steps were resulted. They mainly concerned with methodological recommendations for developing children´s vocabulary.
