Abstract
Soon after the separation of the border regions of Czech countries
in October 1938 the Stillhaltekommissar für Organisationen (STIKO) for this area was established
in Liberec. Through its staff and activities it was connected with a similar institution established in
Wien after the „Anschluss“. Its main goals were to submit community life, organisations and resources
under the NSDAP and destruction of organisations unfriendly to the Third Reich (Marxist, Jewish and
in Sudetenland even Czech organisations) and confi scation of their property. Finalization of the STIKO
activities was taken over by the Liberec offi ce of the Aufbaufonds Vermögensverwaltungs-Gesellschaft
m. b. H. The Liberec STIKO offi ce managed the whole borderland including areas attached to Bavarian,
Austrian and Silesia districts. In this territory about 81 000 organisations (with total estate of a little
bit under 42 million RM) submitted to inquiry, only 14 204 of them were not dissolved. Remaining
organisations were obliged by the STIKO to pay fees, this way respective districts got 16 million RM.
Aufbaufonds company ceased its activity in the end of 1942, STIKO was defi nitely disbanded in 1944.
