Abstract
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of the so-called final solution of the Jewish question and the subsequent post-war situation in Czechoslovakia. Both are depicted on the fate of members of the family of physician Heinrich Freund, who lived in Liberec at the beginning of the 20th century. Freund and his family undoubtedly ranked among the intellectual elite of the Czechoslovak state. After the so-called Nuremberg Laws were issued, some of them became persecuted by the state. The deportation of the German population after the end of the war complicated the living situation of the remaining family members. The fate of these people was determined on the basis of current political thinking. I will prove the complexities of the 20th century on the life of this particular family.
