Abstract
Tato práce se zabývá geografickými aspekty problematiky palmového oleje, a to především s ohledem na prostorové rozložení jeho produkce, globální distribuční toky a související environmentální a sociální dopady. Pozornost je věnována zejména oblastem jihovýchodní Asie, konkrétně Indonésii a Malajsii, které patří mezi největší světové producenty této komodity. Cílem práce je analyzovat souvislosti mezi intenzivním pěstováním palmy olejné a úbytkem tropických lesů a zhodnotit účinnost vybraných certifikačních a legislativních nástrojů, které se snaží regulovat dopady produkce. Součástí práce je rešerše odborné literatury
a datových zdrojů, prostorová analýza a tematická SWOT analýza, která shrnuje hlavní výzvy spojené s udržitelnou produkcí palmového oleje.
This paper examines the geographical aspects of palm oil, particularly with respect to the spatial distribution of its production, global distribution flows and the associated environmental and social impacts. It focuses in particular on Southeast Asian regions, namely Indonesia and Malaysia, which are among the world's largest producers of this commodity. The aim of the paper is to analyse the links between intensive oil palm cultivation and tropical forest loss and to assess the effectiveness of selected certification and legislative instruments that seek to regulate the impacts of production. The thesis includes a literature and data sources search, a spatial analysis and a thematic SWOT analysis that summarizes the main challenges associated with sustainable oil palm production.
