Abstract
Bakalářská práce analyzuje motiv náboženství v díle amerického postmoderního spisovatele Kurta Vonneguta, konkrétně v jeho novele Kolíbka. Práce se věnuje pojetí náboženství jako konstruktu, jeho vztahu k vědeckého pohledu na svět a jeho funkci ve společnosti. První část práce analyzuje tyto momenty pouze v literární rovině novely. Druhá část se zaměřuje na paralely mezi Vonnegutem vykonstruovaným světem a reálnou rovinou. Porovnává myšlenky z novely s vybranými filosofickými, sociologickými a vědeckými publikacemi, které byly zvoleny na základě jejich vztahu k problematice.
The thesis analyzes the theme of religion in the work of American postmodern author Kurt Vonnegut. It focuses specifically on his novel Cat´s Cradle. The thesis deals with the view of religion as a construct, the relationship between religion and science and the social function of religion. The first part describes how those problems are portrayed in the novel. The second part draws parallels between the fictional world and the reality. It compares the thoughts from Cat´s Cradle to other philosophical, sociological and scientifical publications, which were chosen based on their relation to discussed topics.
