Abstract
Today, there is a growing need in personalized medicine to improve treatment effec-tiveness and patient comfort. One way to achieve this is to develop a system with con-trolled delivery and release of the incorporated drug at the target site. At the same time, there are still opportunities to develop substances that would be able to replace antibiotics. The aim of this work is to study the release kinetics of a new antibacterial substance from nanofibers in in vitro conditions. The morphology of the layers before and after the experiment was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. An HPLC method was used to determine the presence and release kinetics of the incorporated substance. Although the substance has been successfully incorporated, the assumption of rapid release by a simple diffusion mechanism has not yet been confirmed.
