Abstract
Cílem práce je zmapovat postavení ženy v balijské společnosti a porovnat její postavení s životem ženy ve společnosti západní. Pro dosažení tohoto cíle je nezbytné seznámit se s tradičními zvyky a hodnotami balijské kultury, která se v důsledku historických událostí a západního vlivu rychle mění. Práce stručně shrnuje geografické informace o Bali, jeho historii, politiku a současnou situaci na ostrově potýkajícím se s přílivem západních turistů a jejich hodnot. Seznamuje s obecnou problematikou genderu ve vztahu k náboženství a také vymezuje specifickou formu místního hinduismu, tzv. balijského hinduismu, který byl vždy spíše způsobem života, soustavou pravidel řídících chování a společnost, a jehož původní aspekty, kastovní systém a každodenní rituály i v dnešní transformující se balijské společnosti významně ovlivňují život žen a v místním vnímání jsou pevně zakořeněny. Autorka charakterizuje dva hlavní přístupy k situaci žen na ostrově - střet mezi tradicionalisty obhajujícími balijské tradice a kulturní identitu a feministickými organizacemi bojujícími za práva žen - a jejich možné výhody i nevýhody.Pozornost je v neposlední řadě věnována rodinnému i pracovnímu životu balijských žen: výběru partnerů, manželství a rozvodu, stejně jako vzdělání a pracovním příležitostem.
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the status of women in Balinese society and compare it with the life of women in Western society. Therefore, it is necessary to outline traditional beliefs and values of Balinese culture, which has been rapidly transforming as a result of historical events and the influence of Western concepts.The thesis briefly summarizes geography and history of Bali, politics and current situation on the island which is challenged with the massive influx of Western tourists and their divergent lifestyle. The issue of gender in relation to religion is presented and at the same time the special type of local Hinduism Balinese Hinduism, which has always been a set of rules of behaviour, a mode of life managing the society. Its traditional aspects, caste regulations and everyday rituals have a significant impact on Balinese women even in the continuously globalizing Balinese society since they are deeply rooted in social perception. Moreover, the author characterizes two different approaches dealing with the status and role of Balinese women the traditionalists fighting for Balinese traditions and culture identity versus the feminist organizations struggling for women rights and both their possible advantages and disadvantages.Last but not least, attention is also paid to family and working life of Balinese women: choosing a life partner, marriage, divorce as well as education and job opportunities.
