Abstract
Diplomová práce pojednává o rodině Kukulových v Jičíně a zaměřuje se na ty členy rodiny, kteří v Jičíně praktikovali medicínu. V popředí zájmu tedy jsou lékaři František a Gustav Kukulovi, otec a syn, kteří v Jičíně v 19. století vlastnili a provozovali soukromý chirurgický ústav. Soukromá nemocnice byla tou dobou na venkově velmi neobvyklým jevem. Její význam překročil hranice města a hrál důležitou roli v celých severovýchodních Čechách. Práce se zabývá nejen klinikou Kukulových, ale také jejich další lékařskou praxí mimo ústav a jejich životy v rámci města. Z Kukulova rodu vzešel i významný chirurg a pozdější rektor Univerzity Karlovy Otakar Kukula, kterému se práce věnuje z hlediska jeho působení v Jičíně a vztahu k městu. Práce je doplněna fotografickou přílohou.
The diploma thesis deals with the Kukula's family in Jičín and it focuses on those family members, who practiced medicine in Jičín. At the forefront of interest are doctors František and Gustav Kukulas, father and son, who owned and operated a private surgical institution in Jičín in the 19th century. A private hospital was a very unusual phenomenon in the country at that time. Its importance crossed the city limits and played an important role in the whole of northeastern Bohemia. The thesis deals not only with the Kukula's clinic but also with their other medical practice outside the institution and with their lives within the city. From the Kukula's family came the prominent surgeon and later rector of Charles University Otakar Kukula, whom the work deals in terms of his work in Jičín and his relationship to the city. The work is accompanied by a photographic attachment.
