Abstract
Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá hraběnkou Constance Markievicz - jejím životem a kariérou. Aktivně bojovala za to, v co věřila, navzdory svému anglickému šlechtickému původu. Jednalo se zejména o nezávislost Irska, zrovnoprávnění žen a lepší pracovní podmínky. Pro své přesvědčení toho hodně obětovala, včetně kladných vztahů s některými členy rodiny a vlastní svobody, jelikož byla několikrát uvězněna pro své nacionalistické aktivity. Přesto však dosáhla do té doby nevídaných úspěchů, když byla jakožto první žena zvolena do Dolní sněmovny Spojeného království a také se stala první ministryní v západní Evropě.
This bachelor thesis deals with Countess Constance Markievicz - her life and career. She actively fought for what she believed in, despite her upper-class English background. These included Irish independence, women's rights and better working conditions. She sacrificed much for her beliefs including positive relationships with some members of her family and her own freedom, as she was imprisoned for her nationalistic activities several times. Nevertheless, she achieved unprecedented success, being the first woman elected to the House of Commons and also becoming the first female minister in Western Europe.
