The sliver machine - a means for reducing the number of stages in sliver production
Abstract
A description is given of the machine - a carding machine with stationary flats and a very potential for levelling long-term and short-term irregularities - is discussed in relation to rotor open-end spinning. The satisfactory standard of uniformity produced by the sliver machine guarantees good medium-and long-term uniformity in rotor open-end-spun cotton yarns. The sliver machine produces a cotton sliver suitable for spinning if a suitable means for removing trash is incorporated in the rotor spinning machine. Replacing the flat card, breaker and finisher drawframe stages is therefore an acceptable way of reducing the number of operations in sliver production for rotor open-end spinning.
