Abstract
Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá rozpadem romantického vztahu v díle Smutek sluší Elektře od Eugene O'Neilla a v díle ON od E. E. Cummingse. Cílem této práce je vypozorovat, jak se s rozpadem romantického vztahu vypořádává žena a jak muž. Tyto rozdíly, či podobnosti, jsou zasazeny o Jungův archetyp Matky. Dále také tato práce zkoumá kompenzační mechanismy které postavy využívají při rozpadu romantického vztahu. Zkoumány jsou části, kde postavy nějakým způsobem reagují na ztrátu, lásku či rozpad romantického vztahu. Tyto výsledky budou porovnány a výsledky poukážou, že obě postavy reagují na své rozpady romantického vztahu za pomocí stejného kompenzačního mechanismu: nevíra a popření.
This bachelor's thesis deals with the dissolution of a romantic relationship in Eugene O'Neill's Mourning Becomes Electra and E.E. Cummings' HIM. This work aims to observe how a woman and a man deal with the dissolution of a romantic relationship. The differences, or similarities, between the two approaches, are based on Jung's archetype of the Mother. Furthermore, the thesis looks at the coping mechanisms the characters employ to deal with the dissolution. The parts investigated are those in which a reaction is provided to a loss, love, or a dissolution of a romantic relationship. The outcomes of those reactions are compared, and the result is that both characters reacted to their respective dissolution with the same coping mechanism: disbelief and denial.
