Abstract
The control of the wave vector of the sound wave propagating in air and transmitted through an active acoustic metasurface is analyzed by means of numerical simulations. The control method employs the tunable adjustment of acoustic impedance along the acoustic metasurface, which is formed by a series of piezoelectric membranes shunted by an active electronic circuit. Using these means, it is possible to achieve an actively tuned acoustic metasurface, which allows the control of the phase shift of the transmitted sound wave, when crossing the acoustic metasurface. This allows to manipulate the wave vector of the transmitted sound wave. Methods and results of the calibration of acoustic impedance and the application of such a metasurface device in acoustic beam steering will be discussed.
