    The thesis deals with the concept innovation of the ``light'q tail gate of the Skoda Roomster car. The aim of the project was to sum up of the already existing tail gate design, to do the benchmarking of the competitors and create the new one design, to make the innovation intention and to plan the innovation. By using the modern methods of the innovation engineering, the design alternatives were objectively compared and as the final choice the method based on Rehau technology was selected. The result of the project is the optimized design of the part (shape, construction, material...) with regard to the weight reduction while keeping the initial dimensional and mechanical requests untouched.
