    The theme of this thesis is: The current experience of Slovenia with the introduction of the euro. The aim of this thesis is as first characterize the general progress of the common currency associated with meeting the convergence criteria, which are also know under the name the Maastricht criteria. Very important part of this is chosen sceneries of introduction. Before that, however roughly describes the development and expansion of the euro area. The study also provides the space to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the common currency. The second section describes the process of introducing the single currency in the country and from his preparations to the fulfilment of the nominal criteria. Under the preparation is meaning the process of familiarizing the public with the euro currency to exchange. The last chapter analyzes the main macroeconomic indicators of the country before and after the changeover time between years 2005 to 2009. There are examined the dependence of growth of GDP and consumption growth, government spending and investment.
