    The author in this thesis interprets the history of European economic integration, its major landmarks, namely the ratification of basic legal documents, and various stages of enlargement of the EU in its present form. Subsequently, the theoretical interpretation of outlined forms and stages of economic integration, three - pillar system, which is based on the functioning of the European Union, and described the most important institutions of the European Union - European Parliament, European Council, EU Council and the European Commission. In the practical part the author analysis basic macroeconomic indicators three countries surveyed - Czech republic, Poland and Estonia in the period after their entry into the EU for the years 2004 - 2008, compared with the pre-accession status for 2003. The goal is to acknowledge two basic assumptions - and that the accession of the countries into the EU in 2004 is clearly positive effect on macroeconomic indicators, thereby increasing the living standards of citizens of the country, and that increased volume of external trade. Both scenarios are in the final work on the basis of data and analysis confirmed.
