- ItemCalibration of PVDF Film Transducers for the Cavitation Impact Measurement(EDP Sciences, 2018-01-01) Hujer Jan; Müller MilošThis paper describes investigation of the influence of the protective layer thickness on the calibration sensitivity of PVDF films sensors for the cavitation impacts measurements. The PVDF film sensor is casted into an aluminium block. The drop ball method is used for the measurement of the relation between impact force and the voltage detected on the PVDF film sensor. The calibration constants are measured for three different protective layers thicknesses. Five different ball weights for 400 mm drop height are used to reach the required impact force range. The ball positions for the evaluation of the impact force are measured with a high speed camera. The voltage signal detected on the PVDF film clamps was measured with a high speed digitizer. The measured signals are analysed in LabVIEW Signal Express.
- ItemHow much can be saved by changing the regulation of the apartment house boiler room(EDP Sciences, 2018-01-01) Novotný Petr; Hujer JanBoiler room for apartment building is in operation since 2009 and data are collected for cost evaluation. Question arises after a minor reconstruction. How much energy has been saved? The article selects and processes data that was available. It shows that the importance of the heating circuit pump control cannot be underestimated or overestimated. The article derives savings from gathered data.

- ItemThe improvement of the surface hardness of stainless steel and aluminium alloy by ultrasonic cavitation peening(2017-01-01) Styková Janka; Hujer Jan; Müller MilošThis article presents first results of the experimental investigation of the influence of the cavitation shot less peening process on the properties of stainless steel and aluminium alloy specimens. The cavitation field was generated by an ultrasonic horn submerged in water and operated by an ultrasonic generator. The temperature of the water was controlled by thermometer and adjusted by separate water cooling system. The mass loss, the mass loss rate and the modification of the surface hardness are evaluated for different cavitation exposure intervals. The mass loss was measured by micro weighing scale and the surface hardness by the micro-hardness meter. The presented results indicates the significant improvement in the surface hardness for both tested materials.
- ItemINCORRECT CONNECTION OF THE PUMP IN THE HEATING SYSTEM(Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, VSB Technical University of Ostrava, 2017-01-01) Novotný Petr; Hujer JanThe expert literature describes the adaptive mode of a pump as one possibility for the significant savings in electricity consumption for heating in residential buildings. However, there are examples where a project, based on the superficial knowledge of advertising leaflets leads to mistakes and does not save energy. The end user is mistaken that no better solution exists. One example of incorrect boiler project is rectified and calculation of electrical energy savings is made.
