    The thesis deals with the Kostka of Postupice noble family during the first half of the 15th century. Through Vilém I. Kostka of Postupice the life of a member of the lower nobility during the Hussite Wars is depicted. Vilém joined the Hussites as an unknown nobleman but during the revolution he became one of the most important persons of the Hussite Bohemia thanks to his political foresight. He was an excellent politician, warrior and diplomatist and he participated in most of the key military?political affairs of the Hussite Wars. Together with his political rise the family estate was established and quickly extended. This estate was systematically developed by his sons Bohuš I., Zdeněk III., Albrecht and Jan during the 15th century. Thanks to their effort the estate could compare with the dominions of the wealthiest landlords.
