    This bachelor thesis was examining and analyzing the public view and attitude towards schizophrenic mental disorder. Key objective was to analyze how general public sees people people diagnosed with shizophrenia and what are the generaly accepted possibilities of their social life and involvement. The thesis consisted of two basic sections. The first section was theoretical one, which used an analysis of scientifical sources to expain basic terminology, including a brief outline of past and current public view of people diagnosed with schizophrenia. The practical part was investigating general attitude towards people dignosed with schizophrenia, using a questionaire distributed among 100 respondents living in Prague. The results showed that the majority of respondents feels afraid of schizophrenics and perception of them is affected by myths and prejudice. Considerably the greatest achievement of this thesis is the finding that the basic source of information about schizophrenia are the media, however the level of awareness is very low.
