New methods of clothing comfort evaluation and their application in textile marketing
Abstract
In last decade, textile manufacturers focus their attention to production of textiles with high performance or even smart textiles, because these fabrics and garments with high added value can compete at the world market and bring more benefit than classical textiles. On the other hand, design, manufacture and testing of these products is much more complicated. Very often, the users of these special fabrics and garments are well informed and require evidence about the achieved parameters of these products, mainly characterising their wearing and thermophysiological comfort. Thus, testing becomes very important part of production and marketing of textiles with high added value. The paper starts with survey of comfort characteristics of garments, which should be evaluated and the idea of non-destructive testing is introduced. In the next part, selected instruments for non-destructive testing of some comfort parameters of garments are described and their properties are discussed. Finally, a new parameter characterising the complex comfort level of outdoor garments is introduced and used for evaluation of comfort level of winter jackets.
