Abstract
The sliding interaction between a particle and a bubble in flotation is discussed in the context of induction time, the important measure of flotation behavior, and is modeled to calculate the sliding time. This permits calculation of the induction time and modeling of the adhesion process. The sliding time is modeled for both inertial and inertialess motions of a particle on the bubble surface. The liquid velocities near the bubble surface in the sliding time model are semi-analytically determined. The model is for Reynolds number of bubbles in the range 0≤Re<400 and for a ratio of particle size to bubble size in the range 0≤ Rp Rb<0.1. The sliding time model predictions well fit well with the available experimental data on sliding time. © 1993.
