- ItemActive control of continuous air jet with bifurcated synthetic jets(EFM16 – Experimental Fluid Mechanics 2016, 2017-01-01) Dančová Petra; Vít Tomáš; Jašíková Darina; Novosád JanThe synthetic jets (SJs) have many significant applications and the number of applications is increasing all the time. In this research the main focus is on the primary flow control which can be used effectively for the heat transfer increasing. This paper deals with the experimental research of the effect of two SJs worked in the bifurcated mode used for control of an axisymmetric air jet. First, the control synthetic jets were measured alone. After an adjustment, the primary axisymmetric jet was added in to the system. For comparison, the primary flow without synthetic jets control was also measured. All experiments were performed using PIV method whereby the synchronization between synthetic jets and PIV system was necessary to do.

- ItemCAE methods for plate heat exchanger design(Elsevier Ltd., 2017-01-01) Dvořák Václav; Vít TomášThe heat recovery can substantially reduce energy consumption needful for heating or air conditioning of buildings. The aim of work is to develop a simple CAE method for rapid design and optimization of the dimensions of plate heat exchangers for heat recovery. Flow and heat transfer in an air-to-air recuperative counter-flow plate heat exchangers were investigated numerically. Pressure drop and effectiveness were evaluated as functions of inlet velocity for three sizes of real heat exchangers. Obtained data were analyzed, inlet/outlet cross-flow and middle counter-flow parts were investigated independently and data were substituted by suggested functions for Nusselt number and loss coefficients. These functions were used to illustrate the effect of heat exchanger dimensions. It proved that bigger heat exchangers provide higher effectiveness and lower pressure drop for the same flow rate, but also the heat transfer surface is larger. Derived equations which also take the effect of material thickness and plate pitch into account represent a useful tool for design and optimization of recuperative heat exchangers for use in HVAC systems.

- ItemDirect simulation Monte Carlo method for gas flows in micro-channels with bends with added curvature(2017-01-01) Tisovský Tomáš; Vít TomášGas flows in micro-channels are simulated using an open source Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code dsmcFOAM for general application to rarefied gas flow written within the framework of the open source C++ toolbox called OpenFOAM. Aim of this paper is to investigate the flow in micro-channel with bend with added curvature. Results are compared with flows in channel without added curvature and equivalent straight channel. Effects of micro-channel bend was already thoroughly investigated by White et al. Geometry proposed by White is also used here for refference.
