- ItemAssessment of the impact of the international trade in agricultural products on the EU economic growth(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, ) Remeikiene, Rita; Rozsa, Zoltan; Gaspareniene, Ligita; Pěnčík, Jan; Ekonomická fakultaAlthough international trade is an incontestable driver of economic development, scientific literature still lacks the studies to assess the impact of the international trade in agricultural products on the EU economic growth. The agricultural sector is treated as specific in comparison to other economic sectors as the EU subsidisation policies causes distorted competition in both local and global agricultural markets. The main purpose of this article is to assess the impact of the international trade in agricultural products on the economic growth of EU28. The results of the correlation and regression analyses have revealed that the international trade in agricultural products (in particular, section I and III products) contributes only insignificant part, to the economic growth of EU28 through the following indicators: GDP in market prices, self-employment, employment in the agricultural sector, labour force rate, subsidies and other transfers. The results have also disclosed that while analysing the impact of the international trade in agricultural products on economic growth, there is no necessity to research export and import volumes in separate as agricultural export and import show nearly the same (only with insignificant value differences) determinants of economic growth promotion. Another important conclusion is that the international trade in agricultural products mainly comprises the trade in live animals and animal products (meat and edible meat offal, fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, dairy produce, birds' eggs, natural honey, edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included, and products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included) as well as animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products, prepared edible fats, and animal or vegetable waxes.
- ItemThe role of education, individual and environmental factors in entrepreneurial initiatives: a microeconomic approach for Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, ) Bilan,Yuriy; Simionescu, Mihaela; Mentel, Grzegorz; Rozsa, Zoltan; Ekonomická fakultaConsidering the role of entrepreneurial initiatives in supporting national economies, the main purpose of this paper is the assessment of various factors’ impact on entrepreneurial initiatives in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. Using the data collected via surveys of students in Economics and Business, the association between entrepreneurial initiatives (deep interest in business, intention to start a business after graduation) and quality of higher education, individual traits and economic factors is investigated. The results based on Kendall’s coefficients, Kruskall-Wallis test and multinomial logistic regression indicated that all the students present a certain aversion to risk due to a high number of business disadvantages. Less time left to be spent with family due to business activities and the irregularity of incomes discourage the Poles and the Slovaks to start a business. Unlike Polish students, the Czechs and the Slovaks consider that the quality of higher education motivate them to have entrepreneurial initiatives. Polish and Slovak students decision to start a business depends on the media information about business environment, while for Czech students the knowledge acquired during the studies about starting a business are enough determine them to have own affairs. Some recommendations could be made based on these results: Polish and Slovak higher education in Economics and Business fields needs improvement as to determine the graduates to start and do business of their own. In this context, the organization of more traineeship during the studies to explain them how to be a successful businessperson could have a positive impact on the decision to become entrepreneur. Professors could inform their students that media information is not always the most reliable source, while the experience of successful businessmen shared with students and some lectures taught by experts coming directly from the business environment could be more useful for them.
- ItemThe Role of Perceived Risk and Security Level in Building Trust in E-government Solutions(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, ) Ejdys, Joanna; Ginevicius, Romualdas; Rozsa, Zoltan; Janoskova, Katarina; Ekonomická fakultaIncreasingly, social and economic development is determined by the technologies, including ICT. Technologic development can be seen, on the one hand, as an opportunity and, on the other hand, as a threat to the socio-economic development. The substitution of human-to-human relationships with human-to-machine or machine-to-machine connections is becoming increasingly more controversial, thus providing a basis for scientific deliberations. Trust, which is the cornerstone of all interpersonal relationships, is frequently mentioned in the context of interactions between humans and technologies, becoming the object of scientific interest. One of the growing ICT areas is services provided by public administration (e-government) enabling citizens to deal with official matters via the Internet. Considering a relatively low level of e-government technology adoption in Poland, compared to other European countries, it is justified to search for reasons for such a state of affairs. Trust seems to have an important place among many factors determining the development of e-government technology. In technology acceptance models, among the determinants of trust in technology, especially in the context of personal data security, an important role is played by the perceived level of risk and security associated with the use of solutions. This article aimed to identify if the perceived risk and security of e-government technology determine the level of trust in the technology and future intentions of its adoption. Based on the literature review, the authors hypothesised that trust in e-government technology and the future intention of its use could be directly shaped by perceived risk and security. An electronic questionnaire was used to collect research data from Polish citizens. All in all, 1,067 forms were filled. Results received using the structural equation modelling confirmed that the most important factor shaping trust in technology was a perceived level of security. Results also confirmed a positive impact of trust on the future intended use.
