    The Batchelor work dealt with substitute family care problems and came out of the present situation of placing Romany children in substitute families. The objective was to analyze the problems of placing those children in substitute family care and to characterize the problems of international adoption. The work consisted of two parts: the theoretical part explained adoption, foster care and international adoption through processing and professional sources, and the practical part which was aimed at the secondary analysis of data acquired from the Children´s Home in Liberec. It came from the possibilities of placing Romany children in substitute families, compared to major population children and those coming from mixed ethnic backgrounds. The data was transformed into graphs displaying percentage values. The outcome showed limited chances of placing Romany children and led to concrete suggestions in the sphere of substitute family care. The results also showed that Romany children are handled successfully in the range of international adoption.
