- ItemCombined Use of Modal Analysis and Machine Learning for Materials Classification(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2021-07-30) Abdelkader, Mohamed; Noman, Muhammad Tayyab; Amor, Nesrine; Petru, Michal; Mahmood, Aamir; Technická univerzita v Liberci; CXIThe present study deals with modal work that is a type of framework for structural dynamic testing of linear structures. Modal analysis is a powerful tool that works on the modal parameters to ensure the safety of materials and eliminate the failure possibilities. The concept of classification through this study is validated for isotropic and orthotropic materials, reaching up to a 100% accuracy when deploying the machine learning approach between the mode number and the associated frequency of the interrelated variables that were extracted from modal analysis performed by ANSYS. This study shows a new classification method dependent only on the knowledge of resonance frequency of a specific material and opens new directions for future developments to create a single device that can identify and classify different engineering materials.
- ItemNovel method on thermal resistance prediction and thermo-physiological comfort of socks in a wet state(SAGE PUBLICATIONS LTD, 1 OLIVERS YARD, 55 CITY ROAD, LONDON EC1Y 1SP, ENGLAND, 2020-02) Mansoor, Tariq; Hes, Luboš; Bajzík, Vladimír; Noman, Muhammad TayyabThe present study proposes a novel method to measure the thermal resistance and comfort properties of various sock samples under wet conditions. Theoretically, comfort properties are responsible for transporting moisture by our body with different rates. Therefore, plain socks with different fiber composition were wetted to a saturated level and after getting the required moisture content, the sock samples were characterized by Alambeta (for thermal resistance and thermal absorptivity) and Permetest instruments for relative water vapor permeability in the wet state. In addition, various skin models were utilized to make a comparison of thermal resistance in the dry state. Two different models were modified for analyzing the thermal resistance under wet conditions. According to the models used, the prediction of thermal resistance is a combined effect of the filling coefficient and thermal conductivity of wet polymers instead of dry polymers. With these modifications, the used models predicted the thermal resistance at different moisture levels with a significant correlation (R-2) value, that is, 0.84-0.97.
- ItemOne-Pot Sonochemical Synthesis of ZnO Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic Applications, Modelling and Optimization(MDPI, 2019) Noman, Muhammad Tayyab; Petrů, Michal; Militký, Jiří; Azeem, Musaddaq; Azeem Ashraf, MuhammadThis present study proposed a successful one pot synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) and their optimisation for photocatalytic applications. Zinc chloride (ZnCl2) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) were selected as chemical reagents for the proposed study. The design of this experiment was based on the reagents’ amounts and the ultrasonic irradiations’ time. The results regarding scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectroscopy confirmed the presence of ZnO NPs with pure hexagonal wurtzite crystalline structure in all synthesised samples. Photocatalytic activity of the developed samples was evaluated against methylene blue dye solution. The rapid removal of methylene blue dye indicated the higher photocatalytic activity of the developed samples than untreated samples. Moreover, central composite design was utilised for statistical analysis regarding the obtained results. A mathematical model for the optimisation of input conditions was designed to predict the results at any given point. The role of crystallisation on the photocatalytic performance of developed samples was discussed in detail in this novel study.
- ItemSound Absorption Properties of Natural Fibers: A Review(MDPI, 2020) Yang, Tao; Hu, Lizhu; Xiong, Xiaoman; Petrů, Michal; Noman, Muhammad Tayyab; Mishra, Rajesh; Militký, JiříIn recent years, in an attempt to substitute the conventional synthetic sound absorption material, natural fibers and their sound absorption properties have been increasingly studied. This is due to the fact that conventional synthetic fiber has potential health risks for human beings and significant environmental impact. In this review, existing and newly emerging natural fiber sound absorbers are summarized and highlighted in three categories: raw material, fiber assembly and composite. The sound absorption mechanism, several widely used prediction models and the popular acoustic characterization methods are presented. The comparison of sound absorption properties between some natural sound absorbers and glass fiber is conducted in two groups, i.e., thin material and thick material. It is found that many natural fibers have comparable sound absorption performance, some of them can be the ideal alternatives to glass fiber, such as kapok fiber, pineapple-leaf fiber and hemp fiber. Last, the conclusion part of this review gives an outlook regarding the promotion of the commercial use of natural fiber by means of theoretical study, efficient and environmentally friendly pretreatment and Life Cycle Assessment.
- ItemStabilization of Sono Synthesized Photocatalyst on Textiles and Development of Multifunctional NanocompositesNoman, Muhammad Tayyab; ; Šašková Jana, Ing. Ph.D. Vlastnosti připravených nanočástic (RNP) byly analyzovány skenovací elektronovou mikroskopií (SEM), dynamickým rozptylem světla (DLS), transmisní elektronovou mikroskopií (TEM), rentgenovou difraktometrií (XRD) a Ramanovou spektroskopií. Experimentální proměnné, tj. množství nanočástic TiO2, teplota systému a doba UV záření byly optimalizovány pomocí CCD a RSM. Syntetizované vzorky byly charakterizovány metodami XRD, SEM, EDX a ICP-AES. Dále byly sledovány funkční vlastnosti jako ultrafialový ochranný faktor (UPF), samočisticí schopnosti, stálost v praní, antimikrobiální vlastnosti a pevnost CT nanokompozitů v tahu. Pro vyhodnocení vybraných vlivů byly využity metody CCD a RSM. Výsledky potvrzují současně vznik a inkorporaci anatasového TiO2 s průměrnou velikostí krystalů 4 nm na bavlněnou tkaninu, vzniká materiál s vynikajícími fotokatalytickými vlastnostmi.
