- ItemBasalt hybrid woven textile materials for advanced thermal applications(NATL INST SCIENCE COMMUNICATION-NISCAIR, DR K S KRISHNAN MARG, PUSA CAMPUS, NEW DELHI 110 012, INDIA, 2019-03-01) Jamshaid, Hafsa; Mishra, Rajesh; Militký, Jiří; Hussain, SajidThe thermal properties of hybrid basalt-polypropylene (B/PP), basalt-polyester (B/PET) and basalt-jute (B/J) as well as non-hybrid structures have been studied. The fabric structures have been developed as plain weave (PW) for B/PP, B/PET & B/J; matt weave (MW) for B/PP, B/PET & B/J; and 1/3 twill weave (TW) for basalt-PP, basalt-PET, and basalt-Jute along with the non-hybrid fabrics. The thermal properties of the fabrics, such as thermal conductivity and thermal resistance are studied along with the physiological behavior. Thermal properties are measured by Alambeta and TCi. Correlation between theoretical and experimental measurement of thermal conductivity are also studied. Air permeability is tested by air permeability tester. Based on the results, the influence of fabric structure on specific thermal insulation parameters are analyzed. The findings show that there is a significant impact on thermal properties of basalt hybrid woven structures by geometrical parameters of weave. Structure and fibre type have strong influence on thermal properties. Twill weave structures show higher air permeability and thermal resistance in all combinations.
- ItemEffect of preheat setting process on heat, mass and air transfer in plain socks(2019-02-01) Mansoor, Tariq; Hes, Luboš; Skenderi, Zenun; Siddique, Hafiz Faisal; Hussain, Sajid; Javed, AsifSocks are prevented against wrinkle formation by preheat setting in greige form prior to wet processing. The current study is proposed to analyze the effect of socks presetting process on thermopysiological and wicking properties of comfort. In this analysis, main yarn linear density, plaiting yarn composition and number of needles are taken as variable on same machine setting. Sock samples were analyzed for comfort parameters (thermal conductivity, thermal resistivity, thermal absorptivity, thermal diffusivity, relative water vapor permeability (RWVP (%)), evaporation resistance (Ret), air permeability, vertical wicking, absorbency and color strength (K/S) value) after various processes (preheat setting, dyeing and postheat setting). The statistical analysis showed that preheat set process significantly affects vertical wicking, K/S value, absorbency, thermal conductivity, thermal resistivity and thermal diffusivity, respectively. While thermal absorptivity, air permeability, porosity, RWVP (%) and R-et couldn't show a significant impact.
- ItemLIQUID MOISTURE TRANSPORTATION PROPERTIES OF FUNCTIONAL UNDERWEARS: PART 1(Sciendo, 2019-06-01) Hussain, Sajid; Glombíková, Viera; Akhtar, Nasrullah; Mazari, Adnan; Mansoor, Tariq; Khan, Kanwar Ali HaiderThis study investigates the effect of material composition on moisture management properties. Fiber type has significant influence on the moisture management properties of knitted fabrics. In this article, single jerseys knitted fabric samples with different yarn compositions were prepared. Liquid moisture transportation properties including wetting time, absorption rate, spreading speed, one-way transportation capability, and OMMC were evaluated by Moisture Management Tester (MMT) and vertical wicking was evaluated using thermography system and image analysis. Knitted sample having fine cotton yarns with coolmax and micro denier multifilament polypropylene showed best liquid transportation properties. There is a strong co-relation between OMMC and accumulative oneway transport index with vertical wicking of knitted samples.
