- ItemCutting process monitoring by means of acoustic emission method part I - New approach of acoustic emission sensor and part 11 - Transformation of acoustic emission into audible sound(Technical university of Liberec, Czech Republic, 2006) Žižka, Jan; Hána, Petr; Hamplová, Lenka; Motyčka, ZdeněkDevelopment of modern society is converging to a status where many human actions can be performed by machines. To achieve production without human intervention, machines require artificial receptors. Data gathering for processing and analysis of signals, together with determination of feedback reactions can be achieved by a suitable decision maker unit. A sensed value suited to this so-called intelligent sensing process would be the acoustic emission signal. In the case of intelligent cutting tools this would require miniature highly sensitive sensors integrated into the cutting tool body. Part I of this paper deals with the possibility of practical usage of the piezoelectric properties of copolymer foils for the acoustic emission sensor as a transducer of a mechanical surface wave into electrical signal. Part II of the paper deals with the most fundamental requirement for monitoring of cutting conditions during machining, i.e. excellent processing of measured data. Data obtained from machining process obtained by means of acoustic emission sensors, as discussed in the first part of this article, have high-frequency and continuous character of a white noise. These data are very difficult to process. New apparatus for transformation of acoustic emission into audible sound in the workplace is presented. The first stage of processing is by listening to transformed data it is subjectively possible to recognize differences in audible spectrum, corresponding to different states of the cutting tool. The second step is visualization of the differences via the fast Fourier transform (FFT) in the spectrum graphic chart.

- ItemThe dynamic method of determination of the piezoelectric hydrostatic coefficients(Elsevier Science Sa, 2004) Hána, Petr; Burianová, Lidmila; Panoš, StanislavThe dynamic method of the determination of the piezoelectric hydrostatic coefficients, dh, was improved. We have constructed new equipment for more exact measurement by means of the direct dynamic method. The piston for the high-pressure mechanical excitation of pressure changes was used. The advantage of the proposed method is a low frequency (about 1 Hz) pressure excitation. The lever hydraulic press is able to create the hydrostatic pressure inside the pressure chamber up to 70 MPa. The temperature control is realised by the PID temperature controller with a resistivity heater and by the compressor cooler. © 2003 Published by Elsevier B.V.
- ItemElastic stiffness constants of PZN-4.5%PT single crystal influenced by DC bias electric field applied at various directions to prototypic crystal symmetry(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2005) Hána, Petr; Burianová, Lidmila; Zhang, Shu Jun; Shrout, Thomas Richard; Furman, Eugene L.; Ryzhenko, Volodymyr; Bury, PeterThe purpose of this work was to characterize an influence of the electric bias field on the elastic stiffness constants of important and unusual piezoelectric material Lead Zinc Niobate-Lead Titanate (PZN-PT). The longitudinal and transverse mode of sound propagation in single crystals containing 4.5% PT were studied. The influence of electric field, which poles the sample, is investigated by the pulse-echo sound propagation technique. From these measurements, the values of complex elastic stiffness constants are evaluated at different poling conditions with different frequencies for longitudinal and sheer excitations. Crystal cuts [001], [110] and [111] served for measurements of the elastic stiffness constants under application of the electric field. Aspects of field-induced phase transitions in PZN-4.5%PT single crystals at room temperature are discussed. Hysteretic behavior has an influence on attenuation and velocity of ultrasound.
- ItemHydrostatic piezoelectric coefficient d h of PZT ceramics and PZN-PT and PYN-PT single crystals(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, 2004) Burianová, Lidmila; Hána, Petr; Panoš, Stanislav; Furman, Eugene L.; Zhang, Shujun; Shrout, Thomas RichardThe hydrostatic piezoelectric coefficient d h of Pb(Zr x Ti1 - x )O3 ceramics (PZT), and of Pb(Zn 1/3Nb2/ 3)O3-PbTiO3 and Pb(Yb 1/2Nb1/2)O3-PbTiO3 (PZN-PT, PYN-PT, respectively) single crystals with compositions near to the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) have been measured using a dynamic hydrostatic method. The effects of DC electric field and static component of hydrostatic stress on d h of PZT ceramics, PZN-PT and PYN-PT single crystals were studied. Changes of the piezoelectric hydrostatic coefficients d h caused by an electric field (DC bias) were observed along with pressure and temperature dependencies. The measurement of the hydrostatic piezoelectric coefficient d h seems to be promising for investigation of intrinsic (single domain) and extrinsic (domain-walls) contributions to piezoelectric behavior of single crystals and ceramic materials. © 2004 Kluwer Academic Publishers.

Pressure dependencies of the hydrostatic piezoelectric coefficient dh and permittivity ε were measured in the range up to 60 MPa. The hydrostatic strain coefficient dh, the hydrostatic voltage coefficient gh and figure of merit dh·gh were determined using the static method. The pressure dependence of the hydrostatic coefficients was measured for several successive cycles. Experimental dependence of the charge on pressure and temperature was fitted by multi parameter function. The pressure and temperature dependencies of the hydrostatic dh and pyroelectric p3 coefficients were determined. It was found that the hydrostatic strain coefficient dh and hydrostatic voltage coefficient gh decreased and pyroelectric coefficient p3 increased with pressure at constant temperature.

Cross section ratios are determined in three intervals of the Feynman variable x(F) of the fast proton. A significant violation of the OZI rule is found, confirming earlier findings. Its kinematic dependence on xF and on the invariant mass M-pV of the system formed by fast proton p(fast) and vector meson V is discussed in terms of diffractive production of p(fast) V resonances in competition with central production. The measurement of the spin density matrix element rho(00) of the vector mesons in different selected reference frames provides another handle to distinguish the contributions of these two major reaction types. Again, dependences of the alignment on x(F) and on M-pV are found. Most of the observations can be traced back to the existence of several excited baryon states contributing to omega production which are absent in the case of the phi meson. Removing the low-mass M-pV resonant region, the OZI rule is found to be violated by a factor of eight, independently of x(F). (C) 2014 CERN for the benefit of the COMPASS Collaboration.
