- ItemBiogenic silicon dioxide nanoparticles processed from natural sources(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 530 WALNUT STREET, STE 850, PHILADELPHIA, PA 19106 USA, 2020-04-01) Adach, Kinga; Kroisová, Dora; Fijalkowski, MateuszThe main purpose of this study is to obtain the biogenic silica nanoparticles from selected types of plants and thorough characterization. Plants create SiO2 nanoparticles while growing from the colloidal solution of orthosilicic acid contained in the soil. Together with acid, they absorb additional ions that are essential for their growth, which was found using SEM and EDX analysis. The organic part of the plants was removed using a two-step method. Firstly, the plants were purified in 10% HCl in order to remove undesirable ions. Next, the optimal degradation temperatures were determined according to TGA results that varies between 500-650 degrees C. After the above-mentioned processes silica was studied using ICP-OES, FTIR, TEM, and N-2 adsorption. The nanoparticles obtained from the investigated kinds of plants showed an amorphous structure, differed in size (from 8 to 20 nm) and are not purely symmetrical in any of the investigated samples. Estimated content of SiO2 nanoparticles was in the range 11.5-25.3% depending on the sample. The specific surface area was measured using the BET method.
- ItemComparison of Mechanical and Barrier Properties of Al2O3/TiO2/ZrO2 Layers in Oxide-Hydroxyapatite Sandwich Composite Coatings Deposited by Sol-Gel Method on Ti6Al7Nb Alloy(MDPI, 2020-02-01) Pietrzyk, Bozena; Kucharski, Daniel; Kołodziejczyk, Łukasz; Miszczak, Sebastian; Fijalkowski, MateuszIn this study, coatings of different oxides (TiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2) and hydroxyapatite (HAp) as well as sandwich composite hydroxyapatite with an oxides sublayer (oxide+HAp) were deposited on Ti6Al7Nb alloy using the sol-gel dip-coating method. The coatings were characterized in terms of morphology (optical microscope), surface topography (AFM), thickness (ellipsometry), and crystal structure (XRD/GIXRD). The mechanical properties of the coatings-hardness, Young's modulus, and adhesion to the substrate-were examined using nanoindentation and scratch tests. The barrier properties of the coatings against the migration of aluminum ions were examined by measuring their concentration after soaking in Hank's balanced salt solution (HBSS) with the use of optical emission spectrometry of inductively coupled plasma (ICPOES). It was found that all the oxide and HAp coatings reduced the permeation of Al ions from the Ti6Al7Nb alloy substrate. The best features revealed an Al2O3 layer that had excellent barrier properties and the best adhesion to the substrate. Al2O3 as a sublayer significantly improved the properties of the sandwich composite HAp coating.

- ItemMožnosti použití polykrystalického diamantu v medicíně(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, 2007-01-01) Fijalkowski, Mateusz; Louda, PetrThe subject of the thesis for Masters is microfluidic devices, which are shown in the theoretical part. The devices have been charekterisaes the properties of natural diamond compering to imitation diamond and produced by technique CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition). There is also a written description of the process of the creating polycrystalline and the grained diamond by MPCVD (Micro Wave Chemical Vapor Deposition) which were part of experiments which took place. It was proven during practical parts of experiments that they were useful in these kind of devices. By these experiments the measurements, figures and the way they make it is known. These figures have been described numericly, graphicly and there was also a discussion about them in detail.
