    At the end of the 20th century Information and especially ERP systems became one of the most important drivers of west economics. The current economic environment significantly affects the need for development of information technology. The quality of ERP systems, especially in manufacturing industries, is among the main factors maintaining prosperity and competitiveness of organizations. Information systems don´t bring prosperity and other positive effects automatically, many investments into ERP systems mean loss, both abroad and in the Czech Republic. One of the main causes of failure is lack of awareness regarding the deployment and use of ERP systems by top management. Wrong or not coherent knowledge of the problem is causing, the organization to be unprepared for the implementation of ERP system. Thus high added value, resulting from its use, cannot be calculated with. This work explains the concept of ERP system and provides with a comprehensive approach for necessary preparation of organization for implementation of ERP system and describes the implementation of an ERP system itself. Furthermore, this work presents the key factors of success implementation ERP systems.
