- ItemThe GDPR at the Organizational Level: A Comparative Study of Eight European Countries(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, ) Zanker, Marek; Bureš, Vladimír; Cierniak-Emerych, Anna; Nehéz, Martin; Ekonomická fakultaThe General Data Protection Regulation, also known as the ‘gold standard’ or the ‘Magna Carta’ of cyber laws, is a European regulation that deals with rights in the area of privacy and focuses on data collection, storage and data processing. This manuscript presents the results of investigation in the business sphere from eight countries of the European Union. The research focused on awareness of the GDPR, costs associated with the GDPR, number of trainings, how data are secured and subjective evaluation. The questionnaire was used for data collection. The results show that the majority of employees concerned about the GDPR are able to define the GDPR correctly (64%). The correct identification of personal data is in 95% of cases. The vast majority of respondents (94%) assign the right to personal data protection to the GDPR. Most employees are trained in the GDPR once (46%) or twice (45%). Subsequently, the differences between these countries in some areas of the questionnaire survey were examined. For this purpose, Welch ANOVA with post-test Tukey HSD or Kruskal-Wallis test were used. As a result, knowledge about the personal data do not vary significantly between the countries. In the area of rights, the countries are not again statistically different. As for the number of security countries, statistics do not differ significantly. The subjective assessment of the GDPR is different across the countries. The GDPR is rated worst by companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. On the contrary, the GDPR is best perceived by companies in France and the United Kingdom.

For example, in 2000 the percentage of older individuals aged 65+ years reached 12.4% worldwide. In 2030, this number should rise to 19% and in 2050 to 22%. Therefore, there is a need to prolong an active life of older people, especially by implementing non-pharmacological approaches. Current technological devices and services can assist them in this process. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the use of the Internet among older people in the Czech Republic with respect to their age. The key methods exploited in this study include a questionnaire survey, statistical processing of data collection, as well as evaluation of both empirical and theoretical findings on the research issue. The results indicate that the age is a decisive factor in the use of the Internet by seniors. In fact, the use of the Internet falls with the declining age with the breakthrough age 75+years. Generally, older people use the Internet for communication purposes with the help of e-mail, the most frequent ICT tool for this generation group. Nevertheless, the findings of this study show that the second most common reason for the use of the Internet is the Internet banking, followed by Skype communication and photo sharing. The results also suggest that older people should be trained in the use of the Internet since the training may help them overcome both psychological and social barriers, which represent the constraints in their use of the Internet. Furthermore, seniors could be divided into three basic age groups according to their special needs, which should be considered when designing new technological devices or services for these aging population groups, which could help them to enhance cognitive functions.

For example, Schein defines culture as a pattern of shared fundamental assumptions learned by a group as it overcomes both external adaptation and internal integration obstacles, whereby group member use is efficient enough to be considered valuable and which is taught to new members as the right way of meandering through the equivalent future obstacles. According to Dubkēvič & Barbars OC comprises structured behaviour (especially leadership style), language, rituals, ceremonies, myths, heroes, etc. The aim of this study is to examine the level of organizational culture in the Czech Republic and Poland, i.e. to make a comparison. In the questionnaire survey’s framework, 1,574 questionnaires were received in the Czech Republic, 1,476 questionnaires were processed, 433 questionnaires were received in Poland and 360 questionnaires were included in the evaluation for the same reason as the Czech questionnaires. Since it has been a long-term study in the Czech Republic, more respondents were recruited, in Poland it was the first survey within the co-operation – pilot version. The obtained data was evaluated using Microsoft Excel 2016 and IBM SPSS v. 24. Descriptive statistics tools, correlation and nonparametric Mann-Whitney U-test were used to evaluate the data at significance level p = 0.05. The results show that innovative culture is a better model than bureaucratic or supportive culture. Managers should develop an innovative and supportive culture. There are statistically significant differences in innovative organizational culture index evaluation between the Czech Republic and Poland. Statistically significant difference was observed in the organizational culture index evaluation, mainly depending on the organization’s size and on the respondent’s job position in the Czech Republic. The statistically significant difference in the organizational culture index evaluation in Poland was demonstrated depending on the organization’s size.
