Abstract
Tato práce se zaměřuje na filosofické aspekty v díle J. R. R. Tolkiena, především na otázku smrti a proměny existence. Soustředí se na filosofický proud existencionalismu, především na jeho nejvýznamnější autory Martina Heideggera a Karla Jasperse, ale také na českého filosofa Jana Patočku. První kapitola sleduje podobnou strukturu Heideggerova Bytí a čas, Patočkových Kacířských esejí o filosofii dějin a Tolkienova Pána prstenů, jejichž hlavní myšlenkou je proměna bytí: z neautentického v autentické a z nedějinného v dějinné. Druhá kapitola se věnuje Jaspersovu pojetí mezních situací a tomu, jaký vliv mají na proměnu existence různých postav z Pána prstenů. Na příkladu vždy dvou typově stejných postav ukazuje rozdíl mezi pozitivním a negativním přístupem k Prstenu, který zde funguje jako prostředek k existenciálnímu projasnění.
This thesis focuses on philosophical aspects in work of J. R. R. Tolkien, mainly on theme of death and existence transformation. It focuses on existentialism, especially on its two philosophers Martin Heidegger and Karl Jaspers, and more over on Czech philosopher Jan Patočka. First chapter compares structure and hermeneutic similarities of Heidegger´s Being and Time, Patočka´s Heretical Essays in the Philosophy of history and Tolkien´s Lord of the Rings. The main idea of this works is transformation of existence: from unauthenticity to authenticity of Dasein and from unhistorical to historical way of existence. Second chapter focuses on Jaspers´ theory of limit-situations and what influence they have on transformation according to different figures in Lord of the Rings. On example of two typologically similar figures it shows the difference between positive and negative attitude to the Ring, which works here as a means to an existential clarification.
