Abstract
This paper brings concise explanation of the function of fabrics and clothes which provide increased thermal protection (insulation) on principle of dynamic thermal resistance given by accumulation of heat in PCM particles integrated into protective textile layer. Besides description of structure of the fabrics, a simplified thermo-mechanical model of their thermo-protective function is given. In the second part of the paper, new method of thermal efficiency evaluation of the protection layers in time course time is described. This method is based on "time of at least twofold thermal protection" and an original device for application of this easy method is introduced. In the end, first findings found by the new method which emphasize necessity of relatively high amount of the PCM elements for sufficiently good protection effect are given.
