Komiksové adaptace literárních děl na příkladu Starých mistrů Nicolase Mahlera

Abstract
Comics represent a special category of the artistic creation. It is a genre that balances on the border of literature and visual art, but at the same time it functions as an independent medium. Comic book adaptations of literary works play a significant role in the genre and their popularity is growing rapidly. The aim of this diploma thesis is to explore the relationship between the comic book adaptation and the original literary work, using the work of the Austrian cartoonist and author Nicolas Mahler, or his take on Thomas Bernhard's novel Old Masters. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with comics as an independent genre, the relationship between image and text, and the possibilities of reception of comic works. The practical part is devoted not only to the analysis and interpretation of Mahler's adaptation and Bernhard's novel, but also to the possibilities of the use of comics in German language teaching.
