My bachelor paper deals with the phenomenon of disabled people. Its aim is to analyse the attitude of our society towards people suffering from different kinds of handicaps. The paper consists of two main parts, a theoretical and a practical one. As for the theoretical part it clarifies and explains the factors, which influence general approach of our society to disabled people and its development throughout the history, as well as the progress in taking care about disabled patients. The paper also informs about contemporary situation in medical and social service, provided to such people in the field of state, and non-profiting sector and legal modifications that are supposed to guarantee them their privileges. The goal of the practical part was to examine the attitudes of our society towards handicapped people. For the research I used the method of questionnaires. The questions were generally focused on getting information about respondents{\crq} opinions about the level of seriousness of certain disability and the standard of the care that is provided to handicapped people. It also dealt with the relationship people have with their disabled co-citizens and the feelings the handicapped evoke in them.
