    Škoda Auto, a. s. a ekonomická krize

    Our thesis is focused on impacts of the world financial crisis and particularly on automobile industry where the impacts were among the hardest. This thesis describes the evolution of the world and regional car markets. Furthermore it describes the effects of the economic crisis especially on the U.S. car companies. The main part is dedicated to the automotive manufacturer Škoda Auto, which despite the economic depression has hold positive operating result in the years 2008 and 2009. The sales of passenger cars of Škoda Auto have reached the record numbers in the entire company history. The second part is focused on the government promotion for a purchase of a new car, called a ?scrapping fee?. It describes the evolution of this governmental support in Germany and the Slovak Republic. Our own analysis describes how the profit and sales of Skoda cars would increase if the ?scrapping fee? was introduced last year also in the Czech Republic. Our work also contains a calculation of what would be the contribution to the State Treasury in the form of invoiced VAT from the increased number of the cars sold.
