The goal of the thesis is analyzing the possibility that the European Union offers to sport branch and compare these options with the system of financing sport in the Czech Republic. In the first part of the thesis are described the history, budget and regional policy of the European Union. In the second part is analyzed the financing of sport from the structural funds of the European Union. As an example of using subsidies from the European Union is used the project Construction of the winter stadium in Jablonec nad Nisou. In conclusion is a comparison with the possibilities of financing sport in the Czech Republic
