- ItemMexická komunita v Texasu a její jazyk(Technická Univerzita v Liberci, 2011-01-01) Broulíková, Jana; Valeš, MiroslavThe following work is focusing on the problematic diverse varieties of Spanish in Texas. It´s divided in two parts. The theoretical part explains the history of the Spanish language in Texas, the general usage, the coexistence of English and Spanish, and briefly mentions the loss of Spanish. To conclude this first part, the Texas Spanish is divided into four varieties: spanglish, chicano, tex-mex, and pachuco. The second part is based on a proper investigation. The data was collected by means of questionnaires as well as three interviews done through Skype. Finally, there were commentaries of the questions constructed with examples of the participants´ remarks. The results reveal that the majority of participants are familiar with the meanings of spanglish or chicano, fewer knew the significance of tex-mex, and almost no one knew pachuco.
